Caramelized Apples

I had some apples that I wanted to use up and remembered watching a cooking show where the chef made caramelized apples to serve over ice cream for dessert. I had bought a bottle of Da Vinci Gourmet Caramel Sauce on a trip to Winners a few months ago and I really didn’t know what to make with the caramel sauce. It’s absolutely perfect on these apples.

6-8 medium sized apples, cut in slices
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon sugar cinnamon spice
1 tablespoon Da Vinci Gourmet Caramel Sauce (sugar-free) – optional

Melt margarine in a medium-high saucepan.

Add sugar and when dissolved into margarine add apples.

Add caramel sauce and coat the apples.

Remove before the apples start separating from the skin.

Serve over waffles, pancakes, french toast, or ice cream.

If you’re adventurous you could serve them with grilled pork chops – just a thought.


Add 1-2 tablespoons Caramel Sauce
